About us

Grey Ridge Advisory exists to put currently relevant defence, security, intelligence and resilience expertise into the hands of clients who need it for a specific problem — and to take that capability away again, cleanly, when the work is done.

Our Story

I founded Grey Ridge Advisory after twenty-eight years in the Royal Air Force, the last of them as Group Captain and Deputy Programme Director for the UK’s Future Combat Air System. Through those years I watched senior and specialist expertise move out of government into industry — often into firms trading on a familiar name long after that name had lost touch with the work. At the same time, organisations needing serious defence or security advice would buy it from generalist consultancies whose specialists sat one bench deep. Grey Ridge Advisory exists in the gap that creates.

The firm draws on a network of senior leaders and specialist subject-matter experts who have recently served across the RAF, the Army, the Royal Navy, the UK’s cyber and space services, allied governments and the intelligence community. Currency is recent — often measured in months — and maintained through reserve service where permissible, continuing professional engagement and ongoing study. Members are cleared to and accustomed to working at the highest security classifications. When a client needs them, we assemble the bespoke team the brief demands, embed it for the duration and withdraw cleanly when the work is done.

Mission Statement

To bring senior, specialist and currently relevant defence, security, intelligence and resilience expertise to bear on the problems our clients cannot solve from within their own organisations — for as long as we are needed, and no longer.

— Andrew Coe OBE, Founder and Director, Grey Ridge Advisory Ltd
