How We Work

Every client’s needs are bespoke. Grey Ridge Advisory works with the client to understand the problem before shaping a response. We assemble a bespoke team of recently-departed senior and specialist advisers across defence, security, intelligence and resilience, embed it for the duration and withdraw cleanly when the work is done.

The Bespoke Team Model

The starting point is a conversation with the client. Once the problem is understood — usually under NDA — we identify the team it needs: typically two to six senior and specialist advisers, weighted to the brief. Every engagement is intelligence-led, shaped by a current threat and capability read of the situation.

The Network

Our network spans air, land, maritime, cyber and space. Members are recently departed from senior posts across the Royal Air Force, the British Army, the Royal Navy, the UK’s cyber and space services, allied governments and the intelligence community.

Currency is maintained through reserve service where permissible, continuing professional engagement and ongoing study. Members are cleared to and accustomed to working at the highest security classifications.

The Engagement Cycle

Initial conversations are confidential and without obligation, usually under NDA. The client outlines the problem; we test the fit and propose how a team would address it. If both sides see a path forward, a scoping brief captures the work, the people, the timeline and the commercials.

Team composition is agreed with the client. The team operates inside the client’s chain of command for the duration, reporting at whatever cadence the client requires.

When the work is complete, the team withdraws cleanly. We do not push for ongoing retainers; where a client wants continuing engagement, we structure it to defined deliverables.

Discretion

Most of what we do is not discussed publicly. We do not publish client lists or draw attention to engagements once complete. Where a client wishes to be named, we do so only with their explicit agreement and where it serves them.
